THE CASE AGAINST ERIKA IS SCHEDULED TO BE BACK IN COURT TODAY. OF COURSE, A BRILL IS A MAN WHO IS NOW CHARGED WITH MURDER, ATTEMPTED MURDER AND KIDNAPING. IN CONNECTION TO THAT ROSEVILLE PARK INCIDENT. BACK IN APRIL OF 2023. THIS IS VIDEO OF A BRAWL DURING A PRELIMINARY HEARING IN HIS CASE THAT HAPPENED OVER THE SUMMER. A BRILL IS THE MAN ACCUSED OF GETTING INTO A SHOOTOUT WITH OFFICERS WHO WERE SERVING A FELONY SEARCH WARRANT ON HIM AT MAHANEY PARK IN ROSEVILLE. DURING THAT ORDEAL, INVESTIGATORS SAY A BRILL TOOK A HUSBAND AND WIFE HOSTAGE WHILE TRYING TO ESCAPE THE ARRESTING OFFICERS. THE HUSBAND WAS KILLED. THE WIFE INJURED. PROSECUTORS PRESENTED LOTS OF EVIDENCE AND VARIOUS MEMBERS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AND EXPERTS TESTIFIED AT THAT PRELIMINARY HEARING BACK IN JULY. ALL DESCRIBING THE EVENTS OF THAT DAY AND AT THAT TIME, THE DA’S OFFICE TOLD KCRA THREE NEWS THAT THERE WAS, IN FACT, ENOUGH EVIDENCE FOR THIS CASE TO GO TO TRIAL. SO IT WILL GO TO TRIAL TODAY. Man charged in deadly Roseville park shootout appears in court

The man accused in a deadly shootout with officers and a hostage situation at a Roseville park was arraigned in court on Tuesday morning.Eric Abril appeared at a hearing at the Santucci Justice Center in Roseville.Abril faces charges of murder, attempted murder and kidnapping in connection to the April 2023 shootout with officers who were serving a felony search warrant on him at Mahany Park.During the ordeal, investigators said Abril took a husband and wife hostage while trying to escape the arresting officers. James MacEgan was killed and his wife Patricia was injured.Prosecutors presented evidence and various members of law enforcement and experts testified at a preliminary hearing in July to describe the events of that day.In July, the Placer County District Attorney’s Office told KCRA 3 that Abril’s case will go to trial, and according to District Attorney Morgan Gire, Abril faces life in prison without the possibility of parole if he's convicted.A spokesman for the DA's office said Abril was arraigned and the office expects a trial to start in March. ROSEVILLE, Calif. —

The man accused in a deadly shootout with officers and a hostage situation at a Roseville park was arraigned in court on Tuesday morning.

Eric Abril appeared at a hearing at the Santucci Justice Center in Roseville.

Abril faces charges of murder, attempted murder and kidnapping in connection to the April 2023 shootout with officers who were serving a felony search warrant on him at Mahany Park.

During the ordeal, investigators said Abril took a husband and wife hostage while trying to escape the arresting officers. James MacEgan was killed and his wife Patricia was injured.

Prosecutors presented evidence and various members of law enforcement and experts testified at a preliminary hearing in July to describe the events of that day.
