Why is it called Spot Marks the X when the dogs name is either Astro or Capone? Besides that, a pretty solid movie. The characters are actually smart, besides the villains who are just comically dumb, and actually has a cohesive plot. Easily the best DCOM movie so far

I was about to ask how the the two kids were the smartest characters in the movie, but then I remembered that the girl is the daughter of a lawyer at the third biggest firm in town, and she gives her daughter classified court documents.

No one seems to write smart, fun, cheap/made-for-TV family movies like this anymore. (Or maybe they write them, but can’t sell them since studios are so busy making the worst written ones they can find.)
Spot Marks the X is a mostly standard boy and his dog movie with a few quarks, the amazing Border Collie, Mike, in a starring role, and a screenplay that’s actually intelligent.
Ken wants a dog more than anything. When his dream comes true in the form of an animal shelter rescue, he and friend Kathy soon discover his new pet, Astro, has a kleptomania problem.
